What is e-HOCl ?

e-HOCl is an advanced manufacturing technology that creates a stabilized form of hypochlorous acid at concentration that is effective enough to have antimicrobial effect without compromising its safety profile.

Hypochlorous acid or HOCl is an antimicrobial component that naturally produced in our own body to fight against invading pathogen in our body. Through electro-activated technology, HOCl can be produced by utilizing special salt and purified water to create a potent and safer infection control solution that’s free from any toxic materials. The solution is generally known as electro-activated water or super-oxidized solution.

Application:

Hypochlorous acid is used widely around the world in a variety of industries from healthcare, food processing plants to disinfection though fogging and misting. It’s commonly used in wound healing products due its biocompatibility and effective antimicrobial properties unlike many other chemical based solution that has effect on human and environment.

Mode of action

In the body, white blood cells (neutrophils) produce hypochlorous acid as part of the human immune / defence system. These neutrophils seek out invasive pathogens like bacteria and viruses and destroy them using hypochlorous acid.

Commercially produced HOCl works in exactly the same way, offering maximal antimicrobial properties across all non-porous surfaces. HOCl is a powerful oxidizing agent, killing a vast spectrum of bacteria, viruses, yeast and fungus by destroying the cell membranes and proteins.

How safe is e-HOCl?

  • Hypochlorous acid (HOCl) is the similar component found in our neutrophils to act against pathogens
  • Manufacturing process does not involves use of any chemical substances -major components of raw materials are salt and purifies water
  • HOCl has no C.O.S.H.H (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) requirements for storage, handling or disposal and has no detrimental effect on the environment.
  • HOCl does not causes antimicrobial resistance (AMR) unlike other chemical based solutions such as silver, iodine and chlorhexidine.
